AMOS WEMANYA
Climate Justice Leader & Strategist
Amos is a passionate researcher, advocate, and strategist with over 10 years of experience in human rights, climate justice, and renewable energy transitions. He currently leads the Climate and Just Energy Transition aspects of Power Shift Africa's research, advocacy, and communications. In this role, Amos oversees strategic initiatives that advance climate justice and ensure equitable access to clean energy across Africa.
Prior to joining Power Shift Africa, he championed environmental justice at Greenpeace Africa by advocating for policies that protect natural resources for all. He has also served on the board of Sustainable Development For All-Kenya, where he championed low-carbon energy solutions for off-grid communities and empowered civil society participation in energy transition processes.
The expertise extends beyond Africa. He has successfully managed projects across the continent and collaborated with diverse stakeholders in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. He holds a Master of Science in Environmental Change and Management (University of Oxford) and Climate Change and International Development (University of East Anglia), and has published research on community engagement in climate justice initiatives.
MWAURA KAARA
Project Manager and Human Rights Consultant
ABC is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in project management, monitoring & evaluation (M&E), and consultancy within the human rights space. He possesses a Master's in Public Policy and Administration, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a specialization in History and a minor in Kiswahili, providing a multifaceted skill set crucial for navigating complex global challenges.
With a career spanning engagements with the United Nations and diverse INGOs, Mwaura has honed his abilities in logical reasoning, solution evaluation, and strategic recommendation formulation. His expertise in project management encompasses comprehensive planning, scheduling, vendor management, rigorous risk assessment, budgetary oversight, change management, and precise project control.
Mwaura’s expertise lies not only in technical proficiency but also in communication and leadership. He possesses a remarkable capacity to articulate ideas cogently and persuasively to varied audiences, both verbally and in writing. His leadership style fosters a collaborative ethos, empowering teams towards achieving collective project objectives. Noteworthy among his achievements is the receipt of the esteemed 2010 Ragnar Sohlman Scholarship, underscoring his dedication to fostering social mobilization for peace and justice. Commitment to intergenerational engagement and catalyzing positive societal transformation exemplifies his dedication to advancing global good practices.
WANJIRA WANJIRA
Community Organizer and Social Justice Advocate
Wanjira Wanjira is a dedicated social justice activist with a decade of experience working at the grassroots level (mention skills). As a community organizer and human rights defender, she co-founded the Mathare Social Justice Centre, empowering her community (how). She currently coordinates the Ecological Justice Network in Mathare, fostering collaboration among youth groups on environmental initiatives.
Her passion for social justice extends beyond organizing. She is a writer with the Kenya Organic Intellectuals Network, sharing her voice through written content. Additionally, she co-hosts "Liberating Minds," a YouTube podcast focusing on Pan-African history, educating listeners about the continent's rich past.
The commitment to social justice transcends borders. She actively collaborates with the African Social Justice Network team, working with colleagues in South Africa and Zambia to advance shared goals across the continent.
JANE GITACHU
Legal and Business Administration Expert
Adept in legal and business administration, Jane leverages her skills to empower individuals and organizations. Currently pursuing a Law degree at the University of Nairobi, she possesses a strong foundation in IT (BSc) and strategic management (MBA). Her professional experience spans diverse sectors. She currently serves as a Clerk at P. Njuguna Company Advocates, demonstrating expertise in company registration, business formation, and legal compliance.
Beyond legal expertise, Jane is a director at Elohay Empire Ltd., a supplier to government institutions and private organizations. Demonstrating her commitment to social justice, she also works as a Consultant and Trainer with Chapter Four Institute advocating for prison reform and empowering marginalized communities. She collaborates with the Prison Reform Working Group and promotes respect for human rights, particularly for those in vulnerable situations.
Jane’s dedication to professional growth is evident in her pursuit of a law degree while balancing a demanding career. Her diverse experience in law, business, and human rights advocacy positions her for success in a challenging and dynamic environment.
